Soddy Daisy Blood and Marrow Drive
Annie Baggett, mom to Steven (a young adult CMLer), and Living with CML author sponsored a blood and marrow drive on Saturday, October 25th.  We were fortunate to be able to join Annie to encourage donations and educate the public on the ease of becoming a marrow donor.

ESH (European School of Hematology) International Conference - Boston
Representatives of Carolyn's Hope will be onsite in Boston for ESH's International Conference to be held September 5 - 7 in Boston, MA.  Dr. Jorge Cortes of M.D. Anderson, a leading physician in the treatment of CML, will be presenting the program Chronic Myeloid Leukemia - Biological Basis of Therapy.  Other CML Specialists will also be featured on the program.  The event should prove highly informative, and also allow Carolyn's Hope to interface with doctors engaged in the ongoing treatment of CML.  Live Updates will be available on the "Live from..." page during this conference.

NBC13 Health & Wellness Festival - April 19 & 20 - Birmingham
We had a great response at the Health & Wellness festival this past weekend!  We were able to talk with three families with CML journeys and share some local resources with them, as well as make many other connections that will help raise awareness on the local level.  Here's a photo of dad (John) and my brother (Todd) preparing for the opening of the festival.

Visit our booth at the NBC13 Health & Wellness Festival, April 19 & 20 at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center.  Come by to learn more about CML and area resources.  We will also have information on CMLConnection groups that are beginning all over the state of Alabama.  For more information on the festival or to join a CMLConnection Group, email us at info@cmlconnection.org or info@carolynshope.com

West Morgan Elementary Blood Drive
Thanks to everyone for giving blood during last Friday's drive (1/4/08).  Your willingness to share will bring hope to many patients and families!  Don't forget that you can give every 56 days (next eligible date: Friday, February 29th)!  Remember, "Life, it's in the Blood!"

5Minutes for the Cure
5Minutes for the Cure, took place on November 10th and was a great success.  Many of you joined us as we prayed for a cure of CML.  Prayer can move mountains and it is ours that CML will one day be eliminated.  Carolyn's Hope was proud to be able to sponsor the website and look forward to doing so again in the future.  5Minutes for the Cure was a grassroots effort initiated by our friend Glenn Davis (a CMLer himself).  More events of this nature will be announce in the future.  Stay tuned!  Visit www.5minutesforthecure.com for more information.

The Pilgrim's Pride Blood Drive, held Friday, September 14, 2007 in Athens Alabama was a GREAT SUCCESS!

Thanks to everyone that came out to give blood and learn more about the National Bone Marrow Registry.  And, congratulations to you "first-time" blood givers!  I hope that the event eased your mind about donating and that you will become a regular participant.  Your involvement will help in ways you may never realize.  Together we can make a huge difference in someone's life  I've included a couple of photos from the drive.  Unfortunately, you will have to view my "ugly mug" since privacy regulations restrict what photographs I can post.  Rest assured...they were rolling up their sleeves!  Thanks to everyone!
